(2 Oct 2017) The actions of the Spanish police in dealing with Catalonia's disputed independence referendum made the front pages of news media outlets around the world on Monday. In an editorial, leading Spanish daily El Pais blamed the Catalan government for Sunday's "shameful" events but also criticised the Spanish government for its inability to tackle the crisis since it began about seven years ago. The newspaper said the day was "a defeat for our country." People in Madrid on Monday were split on the subject with some saying the central government had had no choice but to take action, while others called their actions disproportionate. Catalonia's government will hold a closed-door Cabinet meeting on Monday to discuss the next steps in its plan to declare independence from Spain fo...

Madrid's enforcer for catalonia Image copyright EPA Image caption In the Senate defending policy on Catalonia The woman appointed by Madrid to restore Spanish rule in Catalonia is seen as a capable politician but one lacking in charisma. In those respects, María Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría Antón, 46, mirrors to some extent Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, whom she has served as deputy prime minister since he took office in December 2011.Before entering politics, she was a state lawyer, a member of an elite legal corps serving the ... http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/908337376?-41039:27194:4
Playing by madrid rules We’re not a Catalonianpolitics website, and we don’t even have a view on whether Catalonia should be independent, but sometimes it’s easier to understand the workings and failings of the media if you watch how it behaves on a subject you’re not directly and closely involved with. Last week was one of those weeks. Below is a clip from yesterday’s edition of Sunday Politics Scotland. It features a man called José Rodriguez Mora, who was introduced to viewers neutrally as simply an academic from Ed... http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/908496486?-41039:27194:4
Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid? The British newspaper pointed out that the salute "Salah" prominent during the season, attracted to the attention of "Zidane," especially after the recent negative draw with Athletic Bilbao, the team was further away from maintaining his title this season. Real Madrid have put Mohammed Salah, the Liverpool star, as his top priority for signing him in the upcoming transfer season, the Daily Star newspaper reported Monday. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is seeking a contract with Salah in January to strengthen his attacking streak this season, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Frenchman Karim Benzema going down this season. The British newspaper pointed out that the salute "Salah" prominent during the season, attracted to the attention of "Zidane," especially af...

Catalonia declares independence from spain, direct madrid rule looms 14 minutes ago 80 Views BarcelonaMadrid ANTARA NewsReuters The Spanish government moved to impose direct rule over Catalonia on Friday, stripping the region of its autonomy less than an hour after its parliament declared independence in a stunning show of defiance. Although the Catalan declaration appears to be a doomed gesture, both sides moves take Spains worst political crisis in four decades to a new and possibly dangerous level. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called for calm and said ... http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/908290754?-41039:27194:4

As if being surrounded by the best players in the world wasn’t enough, you get to play in one of Europe’s best stadiums, the weather is pretty good, and you stand a decent chance of picking up some silverware at the end of the season. Then, to top things off, once a year, a nice man drops in on the Bernabéu to deliver some presents. No, not Papá Noel, but somebody from Ingolstadt armed with the keys to 31 brand new Audis. Researchers announced Wednesday they've found the long lost remains of Spanish Don Quixote novelist Miguel de Cervantes in a Madrid convent. The announcement comes after a year-long excavation in the crypt of the Barefoot Trinitarians convent in Madrid's historic Barrio de Las Letras, or Literary Quarter. Madrid-based newspaper El Pais cautioned that researchers have yet to verify the find with DNA evidence. However it quoted pathologist and project director Francisco Etxebarria who said that that it's likely the fragments belong to the novelist. http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/6BC-W3wMrak/ http://www.wochit.com
Why Cristiano Ronaldo Wants To Leave Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season, and has already told the club, according to El Chiringuito football show on Spanish TV channel Mega. The Portuguese star wants to finish up at the Bernabéu on 30 Junio and has told Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, asking him to sort the situation out. However, Pérez has said no, with both the president and other club executives relaxed about the situation, given the player is under contract until 2021, with a buy-out clause of 1,000 million euros. But Ronaldo is keen to force a move, with his own set of reasons for wanting to ditch Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo feels it was a "lack of respect" towards him for Real Madrid to try and sign Mbappé last summer, with th...
https://www.facebook.com/classicfootballtv Real Madrid - Barcelona 0-5 February 17, 1974. Matchday 22, season 1973/74 Barça’s legendary title win in the 1973/74 season came after 14 titleless years. Barça’s team, built around the genius Dutchman, Johan Cruyff, brought the Liga title back to the Camp Nou. The season’s most memorable game was Barça’s 5-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. Barça steamrolled over an impotent Real Madrid. Barça’s dominant display was so convincing that a football daily newspaper in Madrid titled their lead story with Madrid in the hands of Barça. They were rag dolls. It's the game that Barça fans will never forget. R. Mass-market tourism from Northern Europe and an expansion of private home-ownership has been the basis of the country Economic Growth through from Dictatorship to Democracy to EU Accession. It is clear however that this model has to change. It does not produce enough big firms and therefore not enough jobs. The fate of newspapers is an ongoing subject for the Forum. This conversation explores the migration of newspapers to the internet and what that means for traditional concepts of journalism. Amid the emergence of citizens' media and the blogosphere, newspapers are adapting to a changing mediascape in which print readership is in steady decline. David Carr, culture reporter and media columnist for the New York Times, and Dan Kennedy, professor of journalism at Northeastern University and author of the Media Nation blog, explored these developments with Forum Director David Thorburn.
Anton Garcia-Abril works both with reordered nature and with prefabricated systems; with dense and tense structures. From the small scale of the house to the bigger scale of the city. From individual private wills to collective public needs. Where the construction systems used not only solve a structural problem but also configure the space, define the materiality, provide the expression of the architecture, and use the available resources in a responsible way. Along with the technical discourse, socio-economical and landscape issues are brought into the debate, where architecture should contribute much more and much better. Anton Garcia-Abril, (Madrid, 1969) is a European PhD architect and associated professor in the School of Architecture in Madrid. He received the Spanish Academy Resea...
